Make + Learn Lab

The Makery is a multi-purpose room which invites users to explore, create, and learn new skills to bring their ideas to life. We offer a variety of tools, equipment, and programs to encourage a mix of digital learning and creativity.

Fully equipped with moveable tables and chairs, electric outlets, data ports, and access to the library’s Wi-Fi, the Makery is also available for public use as a meeting room.

Additional equipment such as laptops or video conferencing technology is available upon request.

Community Room

The Community Room is a large, 65+ capacity space primarily used for library programs and events. The Community Room may also be used for education, government agencies, economic development, and community resource development purposes. For these functions, users may reserve the room at no cost. For private events, the Community Room may be booked after library hours with access to a kitchenette and family restroom. 

The Community Room is fully equipped with moveable tables and chairs, electric outlets, data ports, & access to the library’s Wi-Fi. Additional equipment such as laptops or video conferencing technology is available upon request.

Small Conference Room

The Small Conference Room is a meeting or study space with a table that accommodates up to 8 people. The room is fully equipped with electrical outlets, data ports, and access to the library’s WiFi. Additional equipment such as laptops or video conferencing technology is available upon request. The Small Conference Room is only available to reserve during normal operating hours.

Study

The small study room is available for those who would like a private and quiet space for individual or group study and projects or small meetings. The room is fully equipped with electrical outlets, data ports, and access to the library’s WiFi. Additional equipment such as laptops or video conferencing technology is available upon request. 

The study is available on a first come, first serve basis. No reservation is required.

Soft Seating Area

Stop by the soft seating area by the front entrance of the library to cozy up with a book in one of the comfortable chairs, grab a drink at the self-serve coffee bar, or browse through the newspaper or magazine collection.

FACILITIES

Book a Space

The meeting rooms are intended primarily for library activities. When the room is not in use by MCPL, it may be used by other organizations free of charge for meetings and events. There is no charge for meetings that are for educational or community service, are open to the public, and free of any type of real or implied charge. Organizations or individuals that use the space for any type of profitable gain (including real or implied sales of items or services, admissions, contributions, donations, collections, fund-raising, sponsorships, or solicitations) will be charged a fee. Fees will also be charged for any private event (including parties, showers, etc.)

Fees charged for the room are as follows: a maximum of 5 hours for a fee of $50.00. If food or drinks are served, a refundable cleaning deposit of $25.00 is required. A clean-up checklist will be provided.

The following meeting rooms are available for reservation by the public:
  • Community Room (maximum occupancy 67) - can be booked after regular business hours.
  • Small Conference (maximum occupancy 8) - can only be booked during regular business hours.

  • To request a reservation for any of our spaces, call the library at 270-432-4981 or email info@metcalfelibrary.org.
  • All users requesting a reservation must fill out a reservation request form. Completed and signed forms must be received in order to confirm a room reservation. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the meeting/event but not more than 6 months in advance.

    Individuals booking a space must be at least 18 years of age. At each meeting/event, at least 1 adult (aged 18 and older) must be present who is responsible for the participants' conduct.
  • All users must sign the Meeting Room Policy before meeting/event.
  • Staff will conduct an orientation with persons wishing to rent the Community Room after regular business hours.
